In Linux you cuse Webcam

for linux
1.
connect the usb camara to a debian/ubuntu v9

in ubuntu most webcam just work and you can acces it under
/dev/video0

2.
test the webcam and connections with skype
a.
Opened up program to use the webcam i.e Skype  
b.
Went to Options -> Video Devices
Noticed UVC camera at /dev/video0 was selected

3.
install webcam
sudo apt-get install webcam v4l-conf

4.
find out the name or your input device:
v4l-info | grep name

5.
create the file .webcamrc in your home directory

       infofile = filename
       fg_red = 255
       fg_green = 255
       fg_blue = 255
       width = 320

start the program with :
webcam
