Using Tartarus Backup Solution :

install with debian: 
1.
the following line to /etc/apt/sources.list
 deb http://wertarbyte.de/apt/ ./

2.
 apt-get update
 apt-get install tartarus

apt-get install tar bzip2 lvm2 gnupg curl

3.
create the file  /etc/tartarus/generic.inc

STORAGE_METHOD="FTP"
STORAGE_FTP_SERVER="1.2.3.4"
STORAGE_FTP_USER="12345"
STORAGE_FTP_PASSWORD="SecretPassword"
STORAGE_FTP_USE_SSL="yes"
STORAGE_FTP_SSL_INSECURE="yes"
COMPRESSION_METHOD="bzip2"
LVM_SNAPSHOT_SIZE="1000M"
ENCRYPT_SYMMETRICALLY="yes"
ENCRYPT_PASSPHRASE_FILE="/etc/tartarus/backup.sec
STAY_IN_FILESYSTEM="yes"

4. and create the user file: /etc/tartarus/root.conf

source /etc/tartarus/generic.inc
NAME="root"
DIRECTORY="/"
EXCLUDE="/tmp/"
CREATE_LVM_SNAPSHOT="no"

5.
make a complete backup with
/usr/sbin/tartarus /etc/tartarus/root.conf

6. 
to create a incremental backup create the directory
mkdir -p /var/spool/tartarus/timestamps/
and add the following line to /etc/tartarus/root.conf
INCREMENTAL_TIMESTAMP_FILE="/var/spool/tartarus/timestamps/root"

7.
after you make complete backup you can now also make incremental backups with the command:
/usr/sbin/tartarus -i /etc/tartarus/home.conf
