Dinner Pray for forgiveness regarding the taking of life

Let this food be blessed and received with a thankful heart. We remember the life of the animal that has given its body so that we might have strength and nourishment today. May we honor its existence through our mindfulness, and may we live lives of kindness and care for all living things. We ask forgiveness for the taking of this life, and pray that its spirit rests in peace, untroubled by our need, that its memory does not haunt or hunt us, and that we walk gently upon the earth in harmony. Give us today our daily bread, For all goodness, life, and breath are yours, now and forever. Amen.
