How to install sql-ledger with the database postgresql?07.12.13

1.
install the db
sudo apt-get install postgresql postgresql-client postgresql-contrib
sudo apt-get install pgadmin3 libdbd-pg-perl
sudo apt-get install texlive

2.
change postgres password

$ sudo su postgres -c psql template1
template1=# ALTER USER postgres WITH PASSWORD 'password';
template1=# \q

3.
now you also have to create the user for unix/linux(use same password than for step 2)
$ sudo passwd -d postgres
$ sudo su postgres -c passwd

4.
login and create the user for sl-ledger accounting system
su postgres
$ createuser -d -P sql-ledger

5.
change the postres config file to have the correct encryption for sql-ledger authentification to mp5

$ sudo emacs /etc/postgresql/8.3/main/pg_hba.conf

change line under # "local" is for Unix domain socket connections only to:
local   all         all                               md5

6.
loginto sql-ledger

http://localhost/sql-ledger/admin.pl
 hit enter with no password if there are no configuration files under /users/
 Select the "Database Administration" link,
enter the user you created in the previous step.

The "Create Dataset" link queries the server
for existing datasets and displays them in a
table. Enter a name for the new dataset (use
lowercase letters only!) and select one of the
Chart of Accounts and click on Continue.

7.
in case you like to import/migrate an older db use this command

$ psql -f db.sql foo_db1 -U dude_user
