How to convert babylons dictionaries to the freeedict dictd?07.12.13

1.
download your babylon dictionary at
http://www.babylon.com/gloss/

example:

wget http://info.babylon.com/glossaries/38D/Babylon_English_Spanish.BGL

2.
download dictconv
example:

wget http://mentors.debian.net/debian/pool/main/d/dictconv/dictconv_0.2.orig.tar.gz

3.
 install dictconv

example:
  a. 
  ./configure
  
  b.
  make
  
  c.
  sudo make install

4.
Convert the babylon file BLG into the freedict format:

example:
dictconv Babylon_English_Spanish.BGL -o free-en-es.index

5.
copy the .index and dic files to the shared dict directory(by bigger dict files compress the dict file to dz)

example:

sudo cp free-en-es.dict  free-en-es.index /usr/share/dictd/

6.
edit the dictd db list configuration /var/lib/dictd/db.list

open example:
sudo emacs  /var/lib/dictd/db.list

add the following to the end of the file:

database free-en-es                                                                                                           
 {                                                                                                                            
  data  /usr/share/dictd/free-en-es.dict                                                                                         
  index /usr/share/dictd/free-en-es.index                                                                                        
}

7.
restart the dictserver,
i have to restart your machine.

8.
now when u check like list db with dict u will see the new dicrectory
example: 
dict -D
