1. install the vnc server apt-get install xfce4 xfce4-goodies gnome-icon-theme tightvncserver 2. add the user vnc adduser vnc 3. add the user vnc sudo to the sudo group gpasswd -a vnc sudo 4. create a file like /etc/systemd/system/vncserver@.service [Unit] Description=Remote desktop service (VNC) After=syslog.target network.target [Service] Type=forking User=vnc PAMName=login PIDFile=/home/pi/.vnc/%H:%i.pid ExecStartPre=-/usr/bin/vncserver -kill :%i > /dev/null 2>&1 ExecStart=/usr/bin/vncserver -depth 24 -geometry 1280x800 :%i ExecStop=/usr/bin/vncserver -kill :%i [Install] WantedBy=multi-user.target 5. give execute permission to the file chmod +x /etc/systemd/system/vncserver@.service 6. delete old X11 entries rm /tmp/.X11-unix/* -Rf 7. setup as deamon when boot up sudo systemctl daemon-reload && sudo systemctl enable vncserver@1.service
