example a swap drive on /dev/sdb2 1. create a partition on /dev/sdb2 (free space after partiton 1) fdisk /dev/sdb P Partition number (1-2): 2 enter... 2. make the partition to a swap drive mkswap /dev/sdb2 (it will return you a UUID like UUID=f5dc4ac2-5420-47f7-bb0d-9c46879ad072 ) 3. enable the swap: swapon -U f5dc4ac2-5420-47f7-bb0d-9c46879ad072 4. add a like like the below to the /etc/fstab UUID=f5dc4ac2-5420-47f7-bb0d-9c46879ad072 none swap sw 0 0
