We are heading towards a software crisis because AI generates too much code that nobody can understand or maintain later. It's already happening — AI writes code that looks correct, passes tests, but introduces subtle logic issues, unnecessary complexity, and patterns nobody would write by hand. The bottleneck is shifting from writing code to understanding code, and AI is far better at the former than the latter. Without strong code review, comprehensive tests, and rigorous architecture discipline, we're building an unmaintainable pyramid of generated code.
