1. install php and ect. $ sudo apt-get intall php5-dev php5 php-pear 2. install xdebug $ sudo pecl install xdebug 3. verify xdebug installation $ pear list-files pecl/xdebug 4. copy the generated debug.so to the apache modules $ sudo cp /usr/lib/php5/20060613+lfs/xdebug.so /usr/lib/apache2/modules 5. add the following line to the php.ini zend_extension="/usr/lib/apache2/modules/xdebug.so" 6. restart apache $ sudo /etc/init.d/apache2 restart 7. check with phpinfo()
